Word: AutoSave Saves You Time
Losing files = losing time
Ever lose a document you were just working on? It’s absolute frustrating and a time-waster.
If you’re old school, this has happened to you and you’ve gotten in the habit of hitting Ctrl-S periodically. But if you want a real simple way, like so simple you don’t even have to think it, then you should adjust your settings in the Office settings.
In Word 2010, this is where you find it. Go to the File tab, then click on Options on the lower left.
In the Word Options tab that opens, click on Save and you’ll see the following window:
First, check the Save AutoRecover information. The default is to save a version every 10 minutes. You can adjust that to suit your comfort zone.
Second, when you’re working in Word, it saves a temporary version of your document. If Word were to close inadvertently, that temp file will be located in that location you see in that AutoRecover file location. Remember that location or know to locate that section here.
Third, while you’re here, note you can change where Word saves your documents by Default. In case you want all files to save to a different location, like your DropBox , Magic Briefcase, or server location.
After you make changes, hit OK and you’re all set.
Word: Link Speed
Here’s a quick shortcut for adding links to your Word document:
Here’s my new favorite shortcut: Ctrl+K, which lets you add a hyperlink quickly.
Just select any text, and then press the Ctrl and K keys at the same time. A dialogue box opens where you can type a link.
Who needs right-click?!?
